2018 sees us continue with six (6) competitions throughout the year and an End Of Year competition at year-end. This will be our first year of AB grading and the removal of our 'novice' competition. See the competition rules page for more information.
All members are encouraged to take photos for the purpose of entering the competition rather than trawling their catalogue for images that match the set theme. The purpose of the competitions is to inspire creativity and to challenge members to produce quality images for the purpose of entry. With each set subject we will also include an Open category pool. In the open category you are permitted to enter any image for consideration.
A reminder that both Print and Digital entries require a digital copy be sent to the competition steward with the print delivered to the meeting when the entries are due.
The subject descriptions may evolve over time.
Often called "black and white" our monochrome competition is quite the 'open' subject. The only rule is your image must be black + only one other colour. Entries into this competition will also be up for consideration for the Knox Interclub competition later in the year
Entries due: February 13, 2018 - Our first meeting for the year

One of our more abstract sounding themes, traces is about capturing a presence of someone or something that is no longer there.

Show us part of our world up close. What you choose to make macro is up to you!

It sometimes takes millions, and even billions, of years for starlight to reach us, and while we all view the same universe, we rarely see it the same way.
Entries due: June 26, 2018
To be defined by Emma Gilette during her talk in March.
Entries due: July 24, 2018
See our Pinterest board for Macro inspiration, please note, this is my take on what I believe Emma's talk will be about, these may get blown out of the water after the talk in March. If I'm way off the mark I'll update this board with proper examples.
Self portrait, portrait of your grandmother, we don't mind, as long as it's a person standing in front of your camera. We're going to define this one as having to have a human face in it, the face of your subject. How much or how little is up to you. We've done a few portrait workshops over the years and we have two awesome presenters coming to us specifically for portraiture throughout 2018 AND a workshop prior to this competition being due, so there's no reason not to enter this one!
Entries due: September 11, 2018
Entries for the End of Year Competition must have been entered in one of the earlier competitions in 2018. It doesn't have to have earned a placing, just been entered. You are free to make changes to the image, however it must be entered in the same format it was entered previously.
Entries Due: October 23, 2018.
Members who require further clarification are encourage to contact us for more clarity on any subject via email@example.com. See the Competition Rules for full details of entry requirements.
