Light Painting at Altona Beach

Light Painting at Altona Beach © Ian Gofton

It was a calm, clear and mild night that attracted a large number of members to Altona Beach for our light painting activity.  I got to the beach around 7.15pm which I thought was early and walked to our usual spot only to find a huge line of tripods with hardly a spot left.

Around 20 members joined us for the night. There were also some “ring ins” who joined us for the night and had some fun and indicated they might like to join the Club.

Neil, Matt and Karl expertly whirled and twirled the light painting tools and burning steel wool to great effect that ensured all present captured some great images. The count of three, two, one and the sound of clicking shutters resounded through the night as those present endeavoured to capture the next light show. It was a great night enjoyed by all.

If you would like to give light painting a go, you can read the Light Painting Instructions created by Neil.

We dive back into our Paper Bag Challenge. Members will break into teams and make images with a mystery item. Teams will be encouraged to take a variety of photos and amongst themselves select and edit their final entry... all in the space of a single meeting.

The images will then be presented and critiqued with a winning image selected by all in attendance.
