Saturday

Sunrise

Meet between 5:45-6:00am for blue hour and sunrise is at 6:30am

Andersons Inlet Beach, Inverloch
Parking on Ramsey Blvd near Abbott St. Look for the “stick tents” and foregrounds with views over the water towards the sunrise.

Morning - 10:00am

Walkerville South End of Walkerville South Rd,
Walkerville South. 

Lime kiln ruins, coastal scenery, islands, a walk-through cave at mid to low tides. Sea eagles and black-shouldered kites are often seen. 

Inverloch to Walkerville South – 35 minutes drive.

Lunch 

Bring a picnic lunch, snacks and drinks from Inverloch. Enjoy together after exploring Walkerville South.

Early Afternoon - 1:00pm

Cape Liptrap Lighthouse

Southern end of Cape Liptrap Rd,
Tarwin Lower. [ Google Maps Link]

Lighthouse, coastal scenery, seal and whale spotting, possible nesting Peregrine Falcons Short, mostly flat walk from car park to lighthouse and lookouts. 

Walkerville to Cape Liptrap Lighthouse - 12 minutes drive. This road has a 7.5km gravel section. Return drive back to Inverloch is 40 minutes.

Late afternoon and sunset - Eagles Nest

Sunset is at 6:00pm. Meet at 4:00pm.

Good coastal views and late season whale watching. 2 minute flat walk from parking to lookout. Alternative roadside parking and views of Eagles Nest. The best sunset opportunities looking west are from the Eagles Nest rock shelf, down 122 steps with the tide going out.

Great cliff views towards Eagles Nest – good for the evening “golden hour” 2 minute flat walk from parking to lookout (only space for 2 or 3) or down 100 or so steps to the beach/rock-shelf. 

Inverloch to Shack Bay – 12 minutes drive

Sunrise

Sunrise at Andersons Inlet Beach or Shack Bay (as per above) meet between 5:45am and 6:00am for blue hour and sunrise.

Morning - 10:30am

Bald Hills Creek Wildlife Reserver Bird Hide

Short, mostly flat bush walk – 10 minutes each way from parking Birdlife in the reserve and at the bird hide. A lovely swampy forest. 

Inverloch to BHCWR parking – 25 minutes drive

Bald Hills Wind Farm

Roadside stops for views of wind turbines set in rolling hills on the way to Cape Liptrap / Walkerville South.


Optional for the drive to or home from Inverloch

Shack Bay

Kilcunda Arch and caves lookout

Parking at the end of Shanty Lane,

Follow track west to the coast. A good stop for the trip to or from Melbourne Great coastal views. 3 minute walk, mostly flat, from parking to the lookout. 

Inverloch to Kilcunda Arch – 28 minutes drive
