Several members of WCC enjoyed an outing to the Australian Botanical Gardens in Cranbourne. The day threatened to be a dreary one-it was quite cold and wet when we departed, but by the time 10am rolled around, patches of blue sky were starting to emerge.

We met at the main entrance and proceeded to explore the delights of spring in the garden. Many varieties of Australian natives were blooming, which meant that some members broke out their macro lenses, whilst others concentrated on colours, textures, abstracts and wildlife. There were many bird varieties enjoying the blooms, along with bees and butterflies. Some of us were even treated to seeing a kangaroo hopping around the gardens!

Lunch together in the cafe was lovely, with much chat about photography and travel. A mix up with one of the meals at the table caused much mirth, but what happened on the trip stays on the trip! It was great to have a laugh together and the food and coffee was very good.

Once lunch was finished, we headed out for the obligatory group photo (thanks Leo) and also a group selfie. The selfie also resulted in laughter as the voice command on the phone wasn’t responding to nice calls of ‘smile’. ‘Smile’ said in an aggressive tone doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, but it worked! We all went our separate ways after this and an enjoyable day was had by all.

Judging: End of Year Awards & Dinner

Join us for a night of fun as we award our winners from the year. Awards are given for aggregate point winners and for the images of the year.

For the new members, we have spit roasted meats and salads brought into the Clubrooms. We have found that this works really well as it gives members a chance to chat prior to the EOY Awards presentations. You can bring along some wine/beer and some of the members bring a dessert to share.

Price for the meal is $18.00, please pay into our bank account by November 22nd, with your member number and name as reference: eg: 013Malbon
