p>Saturday was a fine day, the sun was shining and the city was bustling with shoppers. I imagine some were getting their Christmas shopping done early, there's only 71 days to go. Others were having coffee and socialising with friends, all seemed oblivious to the calamity that was to befall them, most going about, not knowing the trouble brewing it Fitzroy Gardens. The following is not for those with weak stomachs...

p>Thankfully the export module of Lightroom hasn't seen much of a change since the first version, so while these instructions were made in Lightroom 5 they should be accurate, or close to, all other versions of Lightroom.
Our weekends away always seem too brief, but we pack a bit in and we make some great photos. Read my report about the weekend. I could have written pages more about the leeches, my not sleeping at all on Saturday night, we glorious wildlife (other than the leeches) and what an awesome time it was. If you've never been to one of our weekends away, I encourage you to come along to our next one. They are a great way to get to know our members, to learn and grow as a photographer. You won't be disappointed and my story here, doesn't do it justice.
What a morning... almost 20 members braved the blizzard-like blustering winds that were sweeping Cranbourne Gardens for our Sunday shoot. It was cold to be sure. Andrea has the best gloves I've ever seen for such an occasion, mittens that fold back to reveal fingerless gloves ... genius!
Most of us left early for the hour-long drive to the other side of town, some smart cookies ventured down the night before and stayed locally. We met around 10am and consumed hot cups of caffeine to keep us warm and alert.
A few opted to take a ride of the shuttle-bus offering a tour of the park and pointing out all the different areas (and there were a few) to get the lay of the land, most ventured off on a self-paced walk around, snapping shots as they went.
Personally I had hoped the morning would present opportunity to practise some macro photography, but the winds were so strong they seemed to move everything in sight. So I can't say I came away with many good shots. Hopefully other members had more success and we can post some of their images to a gallery on this page as they become available.
While the forecast was for rain, I did say at the meeting on the previous Tuesday I would see what I could do about that, and well... it didn't rain for the morning, but ten past noon the rain was upon us and we ended where we began back at the on-site cafe where I took my leave.
I was thrilled at the turnout, given the dodgy conditions and I hope everyone who attended came away with at least one good image.
The set subject "Industrial" and it's lack of pure definition sure did cause some consternation amongst our members. But we all rose to the challenge and produced some great work. Well done to the winners and to everyone who entered this month's competition.

p>Competition was strong amongst the 8 clubs competing in this year's Knox Monochrome Inter-Club competition. Williamstown Camera Club did well picking up three placing awards.

p>At a recent Club Meeting (9 July 2013), John Burgess made reference during his presentation to a free software package for stitching multiple adjacent images into a single panoramic image. His program of choice is Microsoft ICE (Image Composite Editor). It comes highly recommended and the on-line reviews are very positive. HOWEVER, I am a Mac user and this package does NOT work on Macs!!!
Our "Seeing Red" set subject brought out some amazing creativity in our members. Well done to the winners and to everyone who entered this month's competition.
