Phillip Island Weekend Away 2019

I would like to say to all who were unable to attend our second weekend trip of the year, you missed a beautiful weekend.

The drive to Phillip Island was surprisingly quick, taking just over two hours to reach.

Light Painting at Altona Beach

Last night we left the meeting hall behind and hit the beach. Seemed like it might be a silly thing to do on a cold winter's night, but none-the-less, that was the plan, and thankfully a large contingent of members decided to join us in our madness.

Mt Macedon Fungi Hunt 2019

The Mt. Macedon Fungi Hunt was attended by 35 members and family on 7th July. We were very fortunate as the weather was kind to us, only turning in the afternoon.

Flash-n-Blur: Stroboscopic Imagery

During last night's meeting we were introduced to the concept of stroboscopic imagery and we talked briefly about the use of the rear/second curtain for effect.

I admit that I thought I had more time to prepare for this meeting and the practical elements, but the need to reshuffle the calendar meant we had to move this meeting up, so I didn't get around to developing a practical demonstration of the second curtain in flash photography. I have, however, provided a couple of video tutorials at the end of this article that should help you out.

Big thanks to everyone who attended, especially those who stood in front of my lens in front of the club. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Let's kick things off with Stroboscopic Imagery, we'll follow up with a second curtain flash article in the next few days.

2019 Knox Interclub Selections

Our Competitions Subcommittee met on June 4th for the purpose of making our club selections from the images submitted for consideration as entries into the 2019 Knox Interclub Competition.

During the selection process the Subcommittee checks the competition rules, including how many images are allowed per member in each category. We evaluate each submitted image according to standard judging criteria.

If we exhaust the submitted images, and find we do not meet the full quota of the images that are allowed to be selected for our club, we then go back through the images that have been entered into past club competitions to fill up the remaining spots for the Knox Interclub.
